Thestrangeabby has been granted admin rights on this wiki!

You've probably noticed Abby has been working hard over the last 6+ months to update pages, include better quality images, and recently on the interface. Their contributions have been greatly appreciated.

Abby has a clear vision for the wiki and over the next few months we will be working together to implement these changes. We will keep you up to date on any major changes as and when they happen.

If you want to reach out to Abby, they are available here on the wiki, so feel free to leave a talk page message. We also have the Wiki Discord, where you can talk all things Degrassi and also reach me, as well as the thread moderators.

Hello everyone!

You've probably all seen the Degrassi Wiki background at some point on your visit here. A selection of characters from the various 'eras' of Degrassi TNG and Degrassi.

However I have been on this wiki for over 10 years and this background has always been there. It's looking incredibly outdated, with characters that don't necessarily represent their eras (looking at you Riley, Tristan and Tori), with no representation of Next Class or DJH/DH.

While the concept is great, it doesn't match the style of fandom's website layout. You also cannot really see them when you are on the main pages, except for perhaps the forum page.

With that in mind, I'd like to open up the option to submit designs for a new background!

Fandoms such as Grey's Anatomy and Blue Box have backgrounds that work in a way that the main picture can be seen in the top right corner when you are at the top of the page and then as you scroll down, the background becomes more neutral.

Others incorporate pictures in a similar way to here, but they are visible!

I'll leave it up to any of you to submit designs if you'd like to! If there are an adequate number of submissions, then we'll discuss the next steps later.

Just a note going forward with categories. All actors should only have the "Actor" category. The actress category is being phased out, please refer to the following information found under Degrassi Wiki: Category Guidelines

There will still be many, many pages with the "Actress" category. If you see a page with it, please feel free to replace it with the "Actor" category.

I will be ensuring that the "Actress" category is not added to any pages going forward.

Thank you all for your contributions and visits this last year. The wiki may currently be in hibernation mode with no new episodes of the show airing, but by people like you keeping articles tidy and up to date, it remains ready should the show ever return.

I thought I would just give a brief update on current moderators within this wiki so that you know who to turn to if you have an issue!

Bureaucrats

Bureaucrats are the overall moderators of the wiki. They have the power of an admin, with the additional power to grant administrator rights, as well as remove them, alongside promoting users to bureaucrat status.

There is one active bureaucrat on this wiki, which is myself. Additionally Loveya, also holds bureaucrat status but is not active. Please direct any admin related questions to myself.

Administrators

Admins have a general oversight of the wiki, being able to moderate pages, threads, blogs and users. They reserve the right to block users using their judgement. Administrators are chosen for their contributions to the wiki and their overall behaviour.

There are currently no active administrators on this wiki. There is currently no need for an administrator. Please do not message asking to be an admin, if the fandom is in need of one, then a message will be put out. Please contact a bureaucrat if you are in need of assistance.

Content Moderators

This is a relatively new feature by Fandom. These users have the power to moderate individual pages on the wiki, including deleting pages, merging and generally moderating the pages.

There are currently no active content moderators on the wiki. There is also no need for content moderators currently either.

Thread Moderators - aka Discussion Moderators

Formerly Chat Moderators, Thread Moderators monitor the discussion forum, with the ability to delete threads and comments as necessary. They also have the power to moderate comments on article pages, deleting them as necessary and reporting any user posting inappropriate material to administrators.

There are currently three thread moderators. They are:

Michi Loves Muffin - known as Michi

Crazychick08 - known as CC

ThisOnePerson - known as Sarah

They are long standing members of the community and are incredibly trustworthy and reliable. They are also the best people to contact if you have any queries. They can all contact myself outside of the wiki if I am unavailable.

Not only this but they all also hold moderator status on the wiki's Discord.

There is also no current need for any additional thread moderators. Please do not ask to become one as your request will be denied.

Other Rights

Some users also have the power to rollback, that in the case of an 'editing war' or multiple edits by one user, they can revert a page back to it's original state however many edits ago.

Once again, please do not ask for rollback rights, these are given on an as needed basis.

Given that the show is currently off air, this wiki is much quieter than it once was and moderation is not as much of a priority as it used to be. Therefore, the wiki is currently operating at the desired number of moderators. If the show ever returns and this wiki becomes more active again, then the number of moderators will be reviewed.

Apologies for not being massively active lately, I have recently moved country and that has been preoccupying most of my time! I'm not completely detached from here though and I do keep up to date with any happenings!

Not only that but this wiki has a dedicated team of moderators who will always contact me if there is a major issue that needs addressing.

Thank you all for your contributions to this wiki, it is thanks to you all that the wiki continues to thrive. We do also have a dedicated Discord server, where you can talk about all things Degrassi, as well as anything else! The link is here on the wiki somewhere! Hey everyone,

As I'm working my way through the wiki and making relevant updates etc., I'm coming across a lot of actor pages that literally contain only 1 line of text or at the most, two or three lines. I know some of these relate to actors who had roles on The Kids of Degrassi Street or even DJH & DH, but to me personally, it seems a waste of a page.

Most sites now, just don't have a page for an actor if there isn't enough information about them and I think it's time the same is done here. I would like your thoughts and opinions though before I make this decision, as to whether it's a good idea. Please reply on here if you have any comments, questions etc.

In the meantime, I have started labelling these pages with the category "Candidates for deletion". Please do NOT remove this category, as they are now currently candidates. Also, if you come across a page that you believe meets the criteria noted above and it doesn't have this category, please feel free add the category to it.
