The conflict between Clare Edwards and Zoë Rivas began in Season 13 of Degrassi.

Clare and Zoë developed a rivalry during the 2013-2014 school year with Clare finding Zoë difficult and rude and Zoë not liking that Clare lied in her article and taking her narrative that she wanted away. The conflict expands more when Drew and Zoë briefly dated, causing Clare to be jealous.

In My Own Worst Enemy, Clare tells Eli to stop on an episode of West Drive and Clare tells Eli that Zoë is on the Paris trip with Alli and she heard that Zoë was the worst.
In You Oughta Know, Clare pitches an article about Zoë about how her celebrity isn't helping her at school and she seems lost. Clare hands Zoë the latte that she took from Alli and Zoë immediately realizes Clare wants to ask her a big request. Clare tells her that she’s doing an article about her and much to Clare's surprise, Zoë indeed agrees to it, citing that her agent would kill her for turning down free publicity. Clare asks to have the interview at The Dot, but Zoë is attending a party later, Clare suggests tagging along and Zoë agrees to this, but insults her outfit by telling her to show up in something else, leaving Clare annoyed. Clare pulls out her recorder and starts by saying Zoë isn't your typical high school girl.
When Clare walks into the Hollingsworth mansion, she immediately start interviewing Zoë who is lying about her first day as well as her current time at Degrassi and after interviewing Winston who exposes Zoë's lies, Clare is left annoyed that Zoë played her. Clare and Alli talk in a classroom where Clare worries that Zoë's biography that she wrote isn't interesting and the truth about Zoë's real start at Degrassi was boring.
In Everything You've Done Wrong, after Zoë reads the article, she doesn't like the lies that Clare added to the story and told Clare that she told her the stories that she wanted because she wanted control but also to be the hero in her story. Clare says she made her look like the underdog and asks for Zoë to meet in the middle, which she agrees to only if she removes the part of being lonely and replaces it with boys fawning over her. Clare is unable to meet such demands, and tries to convince her by telling her she had cancer over the summer and Zoë is annoyed that Clare is using cancer as an excuse for her lies.
Clare and Alli are on the benches outside of Degrassi with them going over Clare's plan to have Alli to pretend to be Zoë to talk to Meredith to pass off her lies, before realizing that she is being stupid for even coming up with this plan.
In Better Man, Clare walks into student council office and notices a group of girls which prompts Clare to ask what did Drew do. Frankie informs Clare that Drew asked out Zoë, leaving Clare jealous.
In Dig Me Out, Clare interrupts Drew and Zoë from kissing each other telling them that there is a no kissing rule. While Clare compares Drew's presidency to Clinton's, Zoë makes a snap back that Hillary was never president and Clare corrects her that Bill was with Drew defending Zoë's lack of knowledge on her, Clare makes a remark telling him that should tell him something, with Zoë looking offended.
Clare, along with Jenna, Dallas, and Connor poke fun at Drew dating Zoë. Clare is upset that Drew invited Zoë to poker night. When Dallas figures out that Drew had sex with Zoë, Clare becomes upset with Drew telling him that Zoë is in love with him despite him saying he's keeping it casual. Clare and Dallas poke fun at Zoë's plans with Drew.
In Power to the People, Clare jokes to Drew about having to end things with Zoë, and Drew gives his explanation, Clare tells him that Zoë still thinks they're dating.
In Unbelievable (2), Clare thinks they should not have the pep rally because of what happened to Zoë.
In Believe (1), Clare is seen in class telling Becky who says her brother isn't a rapist, with Clare responding that Luke is indeed a rapist because he did rape Zoë. Clare then further points out that Luke hasn’t even apologized to Zoë or her family.
Season 14[]
In Smells Like Teen Spirit, Clare and Alli are in the bathroom discussing Clare's pregnancy, Alli tells her at least she doesn't have to worry about being pregnant and the baby daddy being Drew but Clare thinks something is seriously wrong with her. Clare asks Alli to come with her to the clinic, but Alli worries about Drew after realizing that he is the father and as they leave the bathroom, unbeknownst to them, Zoë heard their whole conversation.
Zoë later uses the knowledge of Clare's pregnancy and the possibility that it's Drew to get into Becky's head. This exposes Clare's pregnancy to the student body.

- Zoë is the second girl that Clare had called the “little girlfriend” of a guy who she has dated or has liked. The first is Jenna Middleton.
- Zoë also had a conflict with Clare's best friend Alli Bhandari.
