The friendship between Darcy Edwards and Chantay Black formed in the fourth season of Degrassi: The Next Generation, sometime before Modern Love. Over their time at Degrassi Community School, the two girls grew further apart as both started befriending other people.

Darcy and Chantay became friends sometime before Season 4. They were close at first, but eventually grew apart.
Season 4[]
In Modern Love, they have lunch with Manny and Emma and try to comfort Emma. They both look at Chester, interested in him after he comes up and eats some of Darcy's poutine. Later, they are seen having a spa day with Emma and Manny at a sleepover. The next day, they tie dye shirts and Emma gets annoyed at the three other girls for gawking at Chester and his brothers.
They drop Paige.
In West End Girls, they agree that they like Manny's choreography and decide to help Manny break Paige's leg by dropping her during a routine.
Season 5[]
In Venus (2), they are both shown shunning Manny after finding out she posed nude on camera for Peter Stone.
They watch on in shock.
In Our Lips Are Sealed (2), Darcy wonders why Emma's wearing a sweatshirt and pants combo that is way too big for her. Emma says that she's cold and Chantay responds that she's "whacked." Darcy then says she think she sees an extra ounce on her butt and Chantay adds that they have to call Weight Watchers. Emma then snaps at them, asking if it's fun to laugh at the tub of lard, says she knows what's wrong and they don't have to keep pointing it out. Manny, Darcy, and Chantay watch on in shock. Darcy tells her they were only kidding and Chantay asks if Emma's okay.
Season 6[]
In Can't Hardly Wait, Darcy and Chantay are both uncomfortable with Mia being on the Spirit Squad. They also get involved in a fight with Lakehurst.
In Eyes Without a Face (1), Darcy, Manny, and Chantay discuss Spirit Squad uniforms. Darcy brings up the idea of having guys on the Spirit Squad and Chantay agrees to it. Both are seen together during the tryouts. They are also seen together in class and Chantay thinks the bracelet Spinner made for Darcy is cute, and Chantay also compliments Darcy on her video announcement. The next day, she is very happy that Darcy got them new uniforms.
In If You Leave, they are both seen ignoring Emma.
Season 7[]
In Ladies' Night, they both attend Degrassi's Free the Children fundraiser.
