David Francis James (1955 - June 2, 2022) was a Canadian drummer and actor who portrayed Robin "Griff" Griffith's older brother Duke on The Kids of Degrassi Street; and also played Mike Nelson, Derek "Wheels" Wheeler's biological father, in the Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High series. According to his obituary, James was a prolific local drummer who collaborated with a variety of the city's finest acts. He died after a brief battle with cancer on June 2, 2022, aged 66.
