The Emmy-nominated 11th season of Degrassi premiered on July 18, 2011 on MuchMusic (Canada) and TeenNick (U.S.). The show followed a 7-week telenovela format with 29 episodes marketed as Degrassi: Now or Never, depicting the remainder of the 2010-2011 school year. Later on, the show returned with one-hour mid-season fall premiere, Nowhere to Run. The remaining 14 episodes returned to TeenNick on February 20th, marketed as Degrassi: New Beginnings, and February 24th on MuchMusic, depicting the first semester of the 2012-2013 school year. Production for the season commenced on March 14, 2011 at Epitome Studios in Toronto. Filming continued into November, with a break in between to give Stephen Stohn the opportunity to produce six episodes for the first season of his (then) new series, The L.A. Complex, starring former Degrassi star, Cassie Steele. The slogans for this season were Every Moment Counts and The Kids Are Not Alright.

Character Descriptions
Imogen Berish (Age 16)
Fun, energetic, with a magnetic look and intense stareāImogen would hate for anyone to think sheās boring, so she goes to great lengths to stand out from the crowd: bandaging her unwounded wrists, or even posing as a homeless kid to beg for change. She puts on the airs of being en enlightened individual, but itās a ploy to manipulate those around her. She worries one day someone will discover her secret: sheās a normal kid looking for excitement in her life.
Katie Matlin (Age 16)
Katie works hard and plays hard. A gifted athlete, sheās been training to make the National Under 17 Womanās Soccer Team. Sheās pretty, but fresh-faced, her years of mastering the bicycle kick keeping her from learning how to cake on the make-up. Sheās driven and thorough when it comes to academics and extracurriculars; sheās blunt and direct when talking to other girls, even fun-loving BFF Marisol; but when it comes to talking to boys or about matters of the heart, she clams up. The soccer field prepared her for a lot of things, but not love.
Dennis MacDonnell (Age 17)
Dennis MacDonnell is an overweight grade 12 student. Heās self-aware, cynical, quick-witted and smart. Dennis has always struggled with his weight, and as a consequence, has taken a social backseat for most of high school. In his graduating year, Dennis is ready to put himself out there and have a great time before leaving Degrassi for good. Dennisā keen ear and passion for music will bring him into a unique friendship with Sav and closer to his hidden crush: Alli.
Noah Bradley (Age 16)
A man of few words, Degrassiās new heartthrob is good with his hands and quick with a grin. Noah spends most of his free time at the cottage. After his mom died, he and his dad renovated their lake cabin in her honour. All of Noahās shirtless hard work eventually paid offā¦especially when girls started admiring his boyish good looks and strong physique. Letās just say Noahās made out with his share of bikini clad Muskoka girls. But he never let them get in the way of the stuff he truly loves: watching sports, hanging with friends, fishing, and camping. Heās a guyās guy who doesnāt play games and means what he says ā all with a good dose of humour and charm.
Marisol Lewis (Age 16)
A member of the Power Squad with a penchant for dating jocks. She is also Degrassi's student council VP. Balancing school and extracurriculars with a job at Little Miss Steaks, Marisol has simple tastes: fun times, good music and hot guys. Sometimes she tends to put those guys above all elseāsuch as friendships and her own opinions. She has been best friends with Katie Matlin since kindergarten.
Season 11B
Tori Santamaria (age 14)
While Tori may be spoiled thanks to her parents indulging her every whim (dance lessons, modeling, beauty pageants, you name it), she's definitely not a brat. Her positive attitude and bright smile are infectious and she enters Degrassi believing she's the best at everything. Unfortunately, Tori is a bit sheltered and realizes she's a bit unhip compared to the students. Like former niner Alli, Tori is ready to rule Degrassi.
Zig Novak (age 14)
Handsome, charming and aloof, Zig is the freshman class' very own bad boy who is full of swagger. He flirts with girls, pulls pranks, gets detention and basically treats Degrassi High like his playground because his homelife is anything but fun.
Maya Matlin (age 14)
Katie has a younger sister, y'all! Maya, who has been living in Katie's accomplished shadow her entire life, is ready to carve out an identity of her own when she comes to Degrassi. While Katie is in to karate and journalism, Maya loves music and, like so many students before her, she decides to start her own rock band. Unafraid to speak her mind and not interested in gaining popularity, like former niner Clare Edwards
Tristan Miligan (age 14)
Guess what? Owen has a younger brother! Tristan is out and proud and has his eyes set on running the school. Seriously, he wants it all: school musicals, dance committees and top of the Power Squad pyramid. Fiercely loyal, Tristan is a good friend to have.
