Please use the guidelines below to ensure the correct categories are added to the page. Adding unnecessary categories to someone's page repeatedly will first result in a warning, followed by a ban if reoffending occurs.

Please note that this page and categories reflect where the show WAS when it finished airing, therefore characters that were still attending Degrassi at the end of Season 4 (with the exception of the graduating characters) should hold the correct categories for the grade they are currently in.

Where to add categories:

  • Grade level tags should only be added to the character to the grade they are CURRENTLY in.
    • Ex: Lola Pacini, a current junior, would not get the Niners or Freshman categories. She was a freshman in the past, but that would not be added to her list of categories.
  • People who have graduated from Degrassi should get the Alumni category and not the Graduation category. The graduation category should only be added to episodes where characters are graduating.
    • Ex: Alex NuƱez has graduated from Degrassi, so she would get the Alumni category. Episodes such as We Built This City should get the Graduation category.
  • Episodes do NOT get any grade level tags, such as Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors.
  • Characters do NOT get the Degrassi: TNG episodes category. It is meant for episodes only.
  • The Degrassi Movie category should only be added to Degrassi movies, such as Degrassi Takes Manhattan or Degrassi Goes Hollywood, not to characters in the movies.
  • Characters only present in seasons 1-9 should not get categories involving Degrassi. Characters only present in season 10+ should not get any categories involving Degrassi: The Next Generation. Characters who are in season 10, but also in earlier seasons should get categories for both.
    • Ex: Ellie Nash would only get the categories Degrassi: The Next Generation, Degrassi: TNG Teens, and Degrassi: TNG Characters, unless she appears in later seasons.
    • Ex: Drew Torres would only get the categories Degrassi, Degrassi Teens, and Degrassi Characters, as he has not appeared any time prior to season 10.
    • Ex: Anya MacPherson would get ALL of these categories: Degrassi: The Next Generation, Degrassi: TNG Teens, Degrassi: TNG Characters, Degrassi, Degrassi Teens, and Degrassi Characters because she has appeared in Degrassi: the Next Generation AND Degrassi.
  • Similarly, characters only present in seasons 1-14 should not get categories involving Degrassi: Next Class. Characters only present in Next Class Seasons 1+ should not get any categories involving Degrassi: The Next Generation OR Degrassi. Characters who are in Next Class, but also in earlier seasons should get categories for both.
    • Ex: Bianca DeSousa would only get the categories Degrassi, Degrassi Teens and Degrassi Characters as she only appeared between seasons 10-14.
    • Ex: Goldi Nahir would only get the categories Degrassi: Next Class, Degrassi: Next Class Teens and Degrassi: Next Class Characters, as she has not appeared any time prior to Next Class Season 1.
    • Ex: Maya Matlin would get ALL of these categories: Degrassi, Degrassi Teens, Degrassi Characters, Degrassi: Next Class, Degrassi: Next Class Teen and Degrassi: Next Class Characters, as she has appeared in Degrassi and Degrassi: Next Class
  • Characters that have appeared in Degrassi: The Next Generation, Degrassi and Degrassi: Next Class would get categories involving Degrassi: The Next Generation, Degrassi and Degrassi: Next Class. They should also receive the corresponding age bracket as well for each iteration.
    • Ex: Spinner Mason would get the categories Degrassi: The Next Generation, Degrassi: The Next Generation Characters, Degrassi: The Next Generation Teens, Degrassi: The Next Generation Adults, Degrassi, Degrassi Adults, Degrassi Characters, Degrassi: Next Class, Degrassi: Next Class Characters & Degrassi: Next Class Adults, as he has appeared in all iterations but was only a student in Degrassi: The Next Generation.
    • Ex: Holly J. Sinclair would get the categories Degrassi: The Next Generation, Degrassi: The Next Generation Characters, Degrassi: The Next Generation Teens, Degrassi, Degrassi Teens, Degrassi Characters, Degrassi: Next Class, Degrassi: Next Class Adults and Degrassi: Next Class Characters as she has appeared in all iterations but was only a teen in Degrassi: The Next Generation and Degrassi.
  • Actors do NOT get categories that pertain to the characters they play.
    • Ex: Paula Brancati should not get categories such as Degrassi: TNG characters or Degrassi: TNG teens that her character, Jane Vaughn, would get.
  • If a character is not married/divorce, then they do not get the Marriage or Divorce category.
    • Ex: Emma Nelson would get the Marriage category, but Sav Bhandari would not, even though he has an arranged marriage in his future.
  • Characters' names are not considered categories and should not be added as such.
  • Male and Female are NOT categories. Respective characters of the series should either get the "Male Character" or "Female Character" category.
    • As of now, the only confirmed Genderqueer or Gender non-conforming character is Yael Baron, therefore they would receive the "Genderqueer Character" category.
  • In line with today's progressive world, the category "Actress" is slowly being phased out on this wiki, all actors will only have the "Actor" category irrespective of their gender. All next actor pages created should ensure the "Actor" category is used.
  • The LGBTQ+ Spectrum is very expansive and inclusive. While we as a wiki support all sexuality and gender identities, it is simply not feasible or manageable for a character to have multiple categories relating to their sexuality. For example, Zane Park would realistically have, LGBT, Gay, Homosexuals and Homosexuality on his page as categories. This is too cluttered and for the sake of simplicity, only the "LGBTQ+" category is needed. A character's trivia section can be used to expand upon their sexual identity. Transgender characters or Genderqueer are also able to receive the additional category of "Transgender" or "Genderqueer" respectively.
    • Ex: Adam Torres would get the categories LGBTQ+ and Transgender, as he is a member of the LGBTQ+ community as well as a transgender character.
    • Ex: Yael Baron would get the categories LGBTQ+ and Genderqueer, as they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community as well as a Genderqueer character.
    • Ex: Fiona Coyne would only get the LGBTQ+ category as she is a member of the LGBTQ+ community but identifies with the gender she was born with
  • Currently, each characters holds the "LGBT" category, this is progressively being changed to "LGBTQ+" to reflect the now more inclusive spectrum.
