The friendship between Eli Goldsworthy and Mike Dallas began in the twelfth season of Degrassi.
Conflict History[]
Overview[]
Eli initially hated Dallas for coming onto Clare Edwards, ruining his friend Jake Martin's garden, and crashing Clare's surprise party as well as starting an all out brawl. As payback for breaking his nose, Dallas attempts to sabotage Eli's play just before opening night, with the help of Luke Baker. Clare seemed to forgive Dallas before Eli did, even after Dallas non-consensually kissed her after giving her beer, trashed Jake's garden, and ruining her birthday party. By the time Eli graduated however, they seem to have put their issues aside. The boys are dating best friends, Clare Edwards and Alli Bhandari, and seem to have formed a civil relationship with each other through their girlfriends.
Season 12[]
In Sabotage (1), Dallas comes up confronting Eli, Clare, Jake and Katie Matlin for getting him and a few other members of the Ice Hounds 3 weeks of detention and when he gets in Clare's face Eli tells him to back off and it's over, but before he leaves, Dallas hints to Eli about his kiss with Clare.
In Sabotage (2), Dallas crashes Clare's birthday party and gives Clare a pack of beer. Eli gets even more suspicious of Clare and wonders what he's talking about. When Dallas starts bothering Clare, Eli tells him to leave. Dallas then asks Eli if Clare finally told him her secret. Later, when Eli and Clare try to leave the party, Dallas blocks their way. Eli, having enough of Dallas, punches him in the face and the two fight. When Fiona Coyne yells at Dallas to get out, he leaves warning Eli that he's going down. Later, when Eli and Clare sit outside on the balcony together, Eli complains that his hand is hurt stating "that jock's face is like a brick wall". In Scream (1), in a beginning scene when Eli is trying to write notes for the play, his hand hurts, and he comments to Adam Torres "I really hurt my hand on that dumb jock's face". (The consistent references to Dallas by Eli as a "jock" suggests that they have rarely interacted.) In the episode, Dallas tries to take down Eli's play for revenge for punching him. When Eli is confronted by a group
of parents not liking the idea of the play, Dallas mentions that Eli seems to be glorifying suicide. While the cast of Romeo and Jules is rehearsing the final scene, Eli realizes the Dallas was right and tries to change the ending. When Eli is desperately wanting to know if his rewrite of the play is approved, Dallas threatens that his play might not, but Dallas is proven wrong.
In Doll Parts (2), when Adam tells Eli his nose isn't broken, Eli is skeptical and says that he busted Dallas' nose a few weeks ago and it looked a lot like his nose now. (The consistent references to Eli punching Dallas is a running gag.)
In I Want It That Way (1), Clare gets tickets to an upcoming Jay-Z concert which she and Alli were going to double date to with their respective boyfriends. Since Alli isn't with Dave Turner anymore, she considers bringing Dallas, who she gets close to in this episode but also who isn't in Clare or Eli's good graces. Dallas begs for the ticket and Alli tells him to take it. Clare finds out and is furious. Alli suggests Dallas "rapologize" to Clare so that they can attend Jay-Z and her plan works. Clare's acceptance of the apology and the fact that Alli and Dallas were driving to the Jay-Z concert later that day may suggest that Eli was convinced by Clare to forgive Dallas or wasn't too bothered by the fact he was going to be attending with them. They may have left the concert on better terms had Alli and Dallas not gotten into a car accident that prevented them from going.
Friendship History[]
Season 12[]
In Ray of Light (1), Dallas is upset and questions Eli about why Cam was cut out of the video yearbook and suggests that he should add a tribute to him.
In Ray of Light (2), Dallas compliments Eli on the yearbook and tells him he did good work.
Season 13[]
In Young Forever, Dallas and Eli are both impacted greatly by the death of their friend Adam Torres. When Eli says that so many people turned up for the funeral, Dallas agrees, saying everyone loved him.
In Sparks Will Fly (2), Dallas tells Alli that Eli is back in town. Much to Alli's disappointment, Dallas admits he told Eli that Clare is in the prop room. Alli tells Dallas that everyone knows what happens up there, referring to Clare's attraction to Drew and possibly a reference to the season 12 episode Sabotage (1) when Dallas non-consensually kissed Clare in the prop room.
Season 14[]
In Get It Together, Clare and Eli babysit Dallas' son Rocky.
In I Wanna Be Adored, at The Dot, Alli finds Dallas with his celebration cake since he has got a job playing hockey for the Nippon Paper Cranes in Japan. He notices that she isn't super excited and guesses she's worried about long distance. Alli tells Dallas she knows they can make it work and she's excited for him but her problem isn't with that. He guesses that her heart-to-heart with Clare didn't go so well. She says that she asked her to help with prom but you'd think she invited her to her own execution. Eli overhears as he cleans up a nearby table and makes a confused face. Alli adds that she thinks Clare's moved on. Dallas asks if it's from high school but Alli thinks it's from her. She asks if Dallas knew she ditched her this morning to hang with her boyfriend. She adds that Clare and Eli should just get married and move to some deserted island where they could read each other pretentious poetry. Eli, hearing this conversation, turns around and tells Alli he thought she'd be a bit more understanding. Alli asks if this is about the baby and adds that Clare isn't the first girl in the world to get pregnant. Eli says she isn't, Alli asks what and Dallas looks at Eli. Eli pauses and says they lost the baby. Alli is shocked and Dallas says, "Woah, dude. I'm so sorry." Eli doesn't react to Dallas' apology and instead says he can't believe Clare didn't tell Alli before walking off. Alli quietly adds her either.
In Finally (1) and (2), Dallas attends prom with Alli, joined by Drew Torres, Jenna Middleton and Connor DeLaurier, and Clare and Eli. Dallas stands next to Eli in the back row as their group takes a prom picture in front of Clare's house.
