Elspeth was a minor character appearing in the two-part series premiere of the third season of Degrassi: The Next Generation. She seemed to be the primary nurse taking care of Shane McKay in the health care facility. She was portrayed by Christie MacFadyen.

In Father Figure (1), she asks Emma Nelson and Craig Manning if they have an appointment to see Shane. When they answer no, she goes to ask in the back, which Emma takes advantage of by running upstairs to see Shane without permission.
In Father Figure (2), Elspeth finds Emma in Shane's room, and asks her who she thinks she is. Emma tells her that she is Shane's daughter, and Shane confirms this with a nod of his head. Elspeth is shocked, but tells Emma that she can't surprise him because he has certain routines he needs to follow since he suffered a traumatic brain injury years ago. When Elspeth tells Shane that Emma is leaving, he gets angry and throws several objects on the floor. Elspeth calms him down by making him sit back down and gives him his knitting, which relaxes him. She then escorts Emma and Craig out of the room. Later, Elspeth comes and picks him up from Emma's house.
