The friendship between Jimmy Brooks and Ellie Nash is known as Jellie (Jimmy/Ellie). They became close friends in Season 5 of Degrassi: The Next Generation, after Ellie replaced Spinner Mason as the drummer in the band Downtown Sasquatch.
Friendship History[]
Overview[]
The two had been acquainted for three years, but became particularly close after Ellie found out that Jimmy had developed an interest in drawing, especially comic book-style drawings. As Jimmy struggled with pursuing his dream to play professional basketball, Ellie encouraged his creativity. Unbeknownst to Ellie, Jimmy, in addition to developing his artistic skills, had also developed a crush on her. Although Ellie did not return his affections, they remained good friends.
Season 2[]
In Weird Science, Jimmy asks Ellie out in the hallway at school. She said that he was cute, but declined as he had previously dated Ashley Kerwin, her new best friend. However, she later gave Spinner Mason her number. They were both extremely amused when Spinner's erection was revealed during English class.
In Tears Are Not Enough (2), Jimmy and Ellie were both concerned about Craig Manning after the death of his father Albert Manning.

In Pride (2), Jimmy and Ellie both encouraged Marco to attend Dylan's hockey game in spite of the fact that Spinner was trying to bully him into not going.
In Take On Me, Jimmy, Ellie, Hazel, Toby Isaacs and Sean Cameron spend Saturday in detention together. As they talk about why they all got detention, Ellie says she skipped class because she didn't feel like going. Jimmy, unimpressed, tells her it's a great story and she rolls her eyes.
In Rock and Roll High School, Jimmy and Ellie were in opposing camps when Downtown Sasquatch performed in the Battle of the Bands against Ashley's anti-Craig Manning band Hell Hath No Fury, of which Ellie was a member. Downtown Sasquatch won the competition.
Season 4[]
In Queen of Hearts, Jimmy, Ellie, Craig, and Alex are seen playing euchre. Jimmy sympathized with Ellie over the death of her pet ferret Bueller Nash-Cameron. He asked Alex to have a heart. The next day they play the same game. When Jimmy says he's up for skipping to finish the hand, Ellie asks where to. They eventually find a place.
Season 5[]
In Venus (1), Jimmy attended Craig's surprise 17th birthday party that Ellie threw at The Dot.
In Weddings, Parties, Anything, as Ellie motions for Marco and Jimmy to leave Craig and Ellie alone at The Dot, Jimmy fist bumps Ellie on his way out. Later, Jimmy whistled at Ellie when she got dressed up for their wedding gig. Just before performing with the rest of Downtown Sasquatch, Jimmy witnessed Ellie and Manny have a war of words.
In I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Ellie compliments Jimmy's drawings at lunch, saying she has discovered a different and disturbing side of him. Jimmy reveals that he took up drawing in the hospital to pass the time. In class, Jimmy gets an email from Ellie talking about a Horror Comics of the 1950s convention. Jimmy says that he can't make it because he has tryouts that day for a paraplegic basketball team, and Ellie tells him it is the last day of the convention. She finally convinces him to go, and he enjoys the art exhibit. He enjoys the peace of the gallery compared to the busy mindset of basketball. Ellie suggests that he takes lessons, and Jimmy reveals to her that he draws what he imagines when he closes his eyes, as he can say everything that he needs to say with a pen and paper. A worker of the gallery tells them that it is 5 after 6 P.M., and Jimmy realizes he was late for the tryouts. He hurries to the tryouts, and almost doesn't get a chance to try out until Jimmy's father convinces the coach to give him a chance for the next day. The next day, Ellie apologizes to Jimmy for making him miss his tryout. Jimmy tells her that he had fun with her though, and Ellie reveals she is going back to the gallery to sign up for lessons, saying she can put his name down, too. He refuses her offer, and she leaves. Later, when Jimmy and Hazel are talking, he glances up at Ellie before deciding to try and help Hazel with his changes.

In Together Forever, Manny, Craig, Jimmy, Ellie, and Marco are hanging out at The Dot, and talking about university. Jimmy, who is sitting next to Ellie, asks her if she is really taking a year off of school to follow Craig around, but Craig clarifies, saying that "she and we" will spend it making their debut album. Jimmy and Ellie later perform together with Downtown Sasquatch during the Northern Sound showcase and meet at the bar to listen to their competition. They all look at each other excitedly when Leo Davies shows up and says he wants to manage them. They then have a photoshoot together and in one of the pictures, Ellie has her hand on Jimmy's shoulder. Later, at The Dot, Ellie decides to not sit at the same table as the boys for their meeting with Leo. Jimmy gets noticeably upset when Leo tells Ellie she's not cut out to be in the band. The band breaks up when Craig decides to leave high school to go on tour.
In I Against I, Jimmy, Ellie, and Marco hand out flyers for the safe-sex seminar at the carnival. Jimmy and Ellie laugh when Toby accepts a flyer after Marco mentions there will be free condoms. Ellie says to the others that she can't believe that Friendship Club brainwashed Spinner. Jimmy replies that there's not much brain to wash. Marco later mentions to Spinner that Jimmy and Ellie are doing their art thing 24/7 when Spinner asked why he's all alone. Several days later, Jimmy, Ellie and Marco sit together in The Dot and Ellie laughs with Jimmy as Spinner comes over to apologize to Marco.
When Ashley returns home from London in High Fidelity (2), she asks Ellie if she is dating anyone. Ellie tells her that she was crushing on someone "as usual" but it is never going to happen "as usual." Later, as Jimmy is showing Ashley his drawings, Ellie raves about them to Ashley. Jimmy refers to Ellie as his biggest fan. Ellie agrees and leaves because she's running late to a movie. Ashley mentions that the two look cozy and Jimmy says they're just friends but Ashley knows he wants it to be more. Jimmy then admits she's right, that he does have feelings for Ellie. Ashley then tells him that she thinks Ellie is crushing on him too. The next day, at the variety show before the graduation of the Class of 2006, Jimmy tells Ellie that she has become one of his best friends and asks her if she wants to take their friendship to the next level. However, by the look on her face, he can tell she doesn't want the same thing and he leaves. Ashley quickly runs up to Ellie, asking what happened. She feels guilty about hurting him and sadly she tells Ashley that she has feelings for someone else. He wheels into the foyer, looking at the painting of Ellie in the mural before being stopped by Ashley. The next day, Jimmy attends Ellie's graduation. Shortly afterwards, Craig returns to Toronto to surprise Manny. He waves at Ellie, who gives him an awkward look before averting her gaze, indicating he was the one she has feelings for.

He then says that finding someone you love that loves you back makes the pain and drama worthwhile. Ellie says he's a wise man and he responds with a smile to not forget he's also good-looking. She laughs before they get up to attend J.T.'s memorial. Ellie's interviewing information would later be submitted to her article at The Core and her conversation with Jimmy inspired her to make up with Jesse.
Season 7[]
In It's Tricky, when Ashley shows Ellie the track with both her and Jimmy on it, Ellie says she wishes she could've heard it live. Ashley complains that everyone likes Jimmy more than her and comments how everything's easy for him. Ellie responds "Yeah... except walking" with a pained expression on her face. Upon hearing the track, Ellie's roommate, Griffin Pierce-Taylor, asks Jimmy and Ashley to perform at a club. Ellie is happy for them.
Degrassi Mini[]
In Man in the Mirror, Jimmy confesses to Ellie that he needs someone who inspires him, someone special, who he can talk to about music, art, and life, things that matter in his life. Ellie doesn't know what to say and accidentally drops her cymbals. She bends down, so Jimmy is now hovering over her in his wheelchair, and she comments that she is such a klutz. Jimmy tells her that she is perfect, and the two gaze at each other for a moment, before Craig walks in, asking if they are having a moment. Ellie quickly stands up, and Jimmy looks back at him, appearing irritated. Craig apologizes, asking if he should go. Ellie says that it is okay, and that she and Jimmy were just talking. Jimmy says it is fine and asks if they are going to rehearse. Craig reveals that Marco isn't showing up, and they begin to practice, though Jimmy looks upset that he messed up an opportunity with Ellie.
