The friendship between Jimmy Brooks and Terri MacGregor started in Season 1 of Degrassi: The Next Generation and lasted until Terri left Degrassi Community School in Season 4.
Friendship History[]
Overview[]
The two have been friends since grade 7, though we were introduced to their class when they were already in grade 8. Jimmy frequently defended Terri in front of Rick Murray, her ex-boyfriend. During season 4, Jimmy partook in the bullying of him after Terri left Degrassi.
Season 1[]
In Jagged Little Pill, both Jimmy and Terri attend Ashley's party. While Jimmy ends his relationship with Ashley (as many of the party attendees do), Terri is one of the only ones to remain her friend.
Season 2[]
Season 3[]
In Never Gonna Give You Up, Terri declines to be the director in the play she wrote in drama class, so Jimmy offers to step in. Terri's new love interest, Rick, is hesitant to let him be director because his mom taught him a lot, but goes along with it. When they rehearse, Terri has trouble performing and is rigid. Jimmy tries to direct, but Rick steps in, leading Jimmy to look annoyed. Later that day, Rick asks Terri how long she and Jimmy had known each other and she responds it's been since grade 7. He prods longer and asks if he's a good friend, to which she responds "Sure" and that she likes him. Rick looks at her, upset at this news, but she clarifies it's "not like that." She adds that Rick is the only guy she cares about and Rick reciprocates, kissing her on the cheek. Jimmy sees the peck and turns back to Hazel, making a disgusted face. Hazel says they're cute, but Jimmy says they're nauseating, adding that Rick creeps him out. Hazel kind of agrees, but suggests he be supportive because Rick is Terri's first boyfriend. Later at The Dot, Rick gives Hazel, Jimmy, Marco, and Terri some pointers and inside tips on stage training. Jimmy questions him a little and Terri looks satisfied at his informed answers. Spinner comes to take orders and Terri asks for a burger. Rick immediately suggests she get a salad. Jimmy looks at Rick, put off and confused. Rick says he remembers Terri craving a salad. Marco interjects, asking if anyone actually craves salad to which Hazel and Jimmy laugh. When Terri asks which one she should get, Rick says the one with the lightest dressing: the healthiest choice. Again, Jimmy looks at Rick pointedly. Terri orders the salad, telling Rick that he is always looking out for her. Jimmy is uncomfortable with what she said.
The next day, after watching another horrible rehearsal on Terri's part, Jimmy confronts Rick on his advice-giving to Terri. Rick attempts to help and talk to Terri, but Jimmy declines, saying he will because he's the director. This makes Rick mad. Later, Rick complains to Terri about Jimmy. Rick suggests Terri doesn't have to listen to him, but she disagrees because he's the director. Soon after, Terri performs the play and Jimmy and Rick look on at her. She is performing well, until she sees Rick looking disappointed. She starts following his old instructions, such as breathing and standing toward the crowd. This causes students to laugh and Jimmy to facepalm. Terri runs offstage, humiliated. The next day, Rick apologized to Terri, saying that Jimmy has feelings for her. Terri says to him they're just friends and Rick says Jimmy's single. Terri reassures him that Jimmy doesn't like her in "that way." After Terri is hit by Rick, Jimmy tells Terri that if Rick ever bothers her again, she just lets him know. She thanks him and they hug.
