Native American Heritage Month[]
In November, we celebrated Native American Heritage Month! Thanks for celebrating with us! For this year, we celebrated Storytellers and Storytelling, focusing on the purpose of storytellers and the impact of storytelling. Initiatives for the month included the NAHM Panel and a Roundtable hosted by individuals from the Native American Media Alliance Feature Film Writer’s Lab. Missed our initiatives? We got you covered! Admin Plus[]
Earlier this summer, Fandom released Admin+, which is Fandom’s admin certification program! This is meant to help admins create healthy communities so everyone can celebrate their favorite fandoms. Admins who complete and pass all three courses in the program will receive an “Ultra” A+ badge, which can be showcased on professional development sites and social networks. If a wiki has all the admins complete and pass the program, you’re wiki will then be eligible to earn the A+ Wiki status!
Welcome to FanCentral [Beta]![]
FanCentral [Beta] is a new destination for fans to learn and explore! If you’re a logged-in user, you have access to follow the fandoms you have an interest in and have that content from that respective wiki available at your fingertips! If you’re a logged-out user, you’ll get recommendations based on wikis you visit, as well as topics that are similar to the ones about the wiki you’ve visited. Currently, this stage of functionality for FanCentral, which is set to evolve over the coming months, is for communities that are currently available in the Fandom App.
Coming Soon: Two-Factor Authentication[]
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is coming to Fandom accounts in order to help increase the account safety of users across the platform!
Developments on Fandom[]
There have been quite a few developments occurring on Fandom! In summary -
- Over 103K wikis have mobile theming, including this one!
- There’s a currently a delay in regard to Discussions Moderation which includes Post/Reply History and Report Notifications.
- Mobile Editing is currently being worked on!
- Fandom will be upgrading to MediaWiki 1.39 in 2023!
